Simplicity Studio 1.20 + energyAware Tools (OSX, Linux)

Hi,

we have another release for you!

Today, you can download Simplicity Studio, as well as energyAware Commander, energyAware Designer and energyAware Profiler for both OSX and Linux in addition to Windows.

In addition to support for more operating systems, we have a couple of new features. The first one is a clone tool for when you want to start your project by basing your code on an example or an appnote. Simply click the Clone button, and you get a complete copy of the example code and all dependencies. There is also support for setting Atollic TrueSTUDIO as your preferred IDE for opening examples and appnotes.

We hope you like the newest version of Simplicity Studio!

OSX:https://energymicrofiles.s3.amazonaws.com/dl/packages/Simplicity_Studio_Installer.dmg

Linux: https://energymicrofiles.s3.amazonaws.com/dl/packages/studiow_linux_pkg.zip

Windows users get the new version as an update through their existing Simplicity Studio install.

Changelog:

Version 1.20

  • Full Mac and Linux support

  • Added functionality to clone Examples and Application Notes.

  • Added support for Atollic TrueSTUDIO.

  • Added 'Open folder' button.

  • Various bug fixes.

Simplicity Studio 1.20 + energyAware Tools (OSX, Linux)

Hello! First of all, thanks for Linux Release with eATools integration!

I`m prepare Gentoo ebuild for this release - http://gpo.zugaina.org/dev-embedded/simplicity-studio

Early I`m create ebuilds for each of the EnergyAware Tools but now I think this is not necessary. However I`m already accustomed that I have eATools items in my main menu. My suggestion is add option to SS to install .desktop files for all of ea tools into ~/.local/share/applications (see https://developer.gnome.org/integration-guide/stable/desktop-files.html.en for more info). But in this case SS should not simple create-and-forget this files - it should delete it on uninstall and modify if user change data dir in SS config.

BTW: is SS have any CLI options for manage data or locate config? It seems that it ignore -h and --help flags.

And what reason was to rewrite SS launcher from python to C++? So I can`t now patch it =(.

Simplicity Studio 1.20 + energyAware Tools (OSX, Linux)

Sorry to be trouble but is there a link to the Energy tools for Linux as I have been using a Windows box with simplicity studio and would rather not spend the time at the moment setting up a Linux box. OpenBSD now has KMS support (great for security) and I have switched most of our online desktop work machines back to that due to various Linux annoyances and for the added security. OpenBSD has Linux executable support but I would rather not enable it unless necessary.

Cheers,
Kc

Got it from the manifest.xml. As long as the manifest.xml continues to make it this easy then I shall be perfectly happy.

To be honest even on Linux (certainly work systems) I usually prevent writes to executable locations by users and rather download verify and install before running and I am considering patching/wrapping the interpreters to do the same.

It's refreshing the way Energy Micro do things (allowing users freedom) and also providing https. Keep up the good work.

Simplicity Studio 1.20 + energyAware Tools (OSX, Linux)

Thanks for the Linux version. I would like to report a bug with supporting higher DPI resolutions. I think you should either force DPI to default 90 to prevent font upscaling or scale the whole interface. Here is a screenshot portraying the problem:

Simplicity Studio 1.20 + energyAware Tools (OSX, Linux)

Hi,

@RushPL: That looks bad. I'll see if I can find a solution to that one. I've seen that the font sizes can be off, but not that badly off.

@Kevlar: Manifest.xml will stay in the current place for the forseeable future :robothappy:

@Alatar: No CLI at the moment unfortunately, .desktop files might be added in the future :robothappy:

RushPL: Yes, we're currently working on a new release. I'm not sure if this issue will make the cut though.

Simplicity Studio 1.20 + energyAware Tools (OSX, Linux)

Hi

I have some trouble setting up my development enviroment under Linux Mint 15 (olivia x86-64). I have GG990F1024 STK.

First thing i did was to download the zip file. I ran start-studio.sh as root. It installed the studio in /home/[user]/Documents/Silabs directory. I opened it and install all the updates. I connected the STK. All the buttons under Tool section are not active. I can open all the documentations and all the external links are active.

So i moved to um003 pdf. The first step in there is to download the J-Link software from segger.com, but software is not available for download.

When i run dmesg I see

[534831.964230] usb 5-1: new full-speed USB device number 40 using uhci_hcd

[534832.155262] usb 5-1: New USB device found, idVendor=1366, idProduct=0101

What have I done wrong? Am I missing a step?
