Bootloader for C8051F3XX

We use C8051F3XX in various products, all w/ USB.

I would like to use a bootloader for firmware upgrades.

I skimmed AN200, AN533.

It looks like there has to be a separate MCU (Master Programmer)??

Is there any way to put the bootloader on the one and only MCU on my board, and comm directly w/ PC over USB?

Thanks,

Emmett

sure, that is the usual meaning of a bootloader.  What probably is confoosing you is that a bootloader does NOT use the EC2 pins/method

Re: Bootloader for C8051F3XX

Thanks for the reply.

What had me concerned was the statement in AN533, page 1:

"The current release of the modular bootloader framework supports option 2 only"

Option 2 being the master programmer method.

I am now following AN200.

Is this the best path to follow?

Thanks,

Emmett

You could also look at the EFM8UB2 USB bootloader ? (or even move to the EFM8UB2 entirely, and make use of the inbuilt bootloader )
