I just purchased and received a EFM32PG12 Pearl Gecko start kit. I installed Simplicity Studio V4.
Where can I find sample projects for this board?
I plugged in the board and SS recognized it and downloaded a bunch of files. I clicked software examples in the launcher, it came up empty as shown in the attached screen shot. Is that a bug or did not missed a step? It is inconceivable that there is no sample project for a starter kit.

update your Gecko SDK which is perhaps too old to properly support the Pearl Gecko tool. Our toolchain is installed with MCU SDK 220.127.116.11 and respectively, the IDE populates with assorted Pearl Gecko compatible examples:
You can upgrade your tools using the green down arrow icon on the top left of the Launcher perspective.

One more thing...Peark Gecko is MBED enabled so you have this option to use the cloud compiler and the many examples which are mbed compatible:

Your screen shot shows 3401 starter kit. I am looking for SLSTK3402A starter kit. I tried the blinky project
for 3401A starter kit but it built but did not run correctly in the 3402A kit.

Use 5.1.2 or higher to resolve your issue. Select the down arrow icon (top left) on the Launcher perspective to see what is the latest SDK for your installed devices. For us, we found 5.2.2 to be current and that release of the SDK does offer code examples for our Pearl kit. Do update your SDK and if you do not see the examples, you can download them from the github URL noted above. Good idea to keep current on the tools to fix erratas in the code, etc. as well.

I have tried the download in SS for the SLSTK3402A kit several times before. I only got the 4.4.0, 4.4.1 and the Micrium OS Gecko SDKs as shown in the attached screen shot. I have manually added the 5.1.2 which I downloaded from GitHub.

The screen shown in your last post for the SDK is not the same as we see when we select the down arrow icon on the top left of the LAUNCH view.
Do you not see a mix of installed stacks / tools and perhaps new versions to download them ?
Try again and then allow all the upgrades to proceed and you should be able to download the SDK as we have.
